The Climate Project collaborates with UROPs and other campus organizations such as the MIT Office of Sustainability (MITOS) to advance MIT’s climate goals. These efforts often extend beyond campus, connecting student projects with local organizations to ensure real-world impact.
This past summer, nine UROP students worked across three initiatives: the Climate Resiliency project, the Decarbonization Accelerator, and the Food Systems project.
The Climate Resiliency project will continue during IAP in January through an expanded partnership that now includes the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. The Decarbonization Accelerator will remain an ongoing learning platform supporting student-led, data-driven research on campus decarbonization. The Food Systems project evolved into a fall pilot “grab n’ go farm stand” partnership with MITOS, the MIT Farm Club, the Department of Anthropology, and Hannan Healthy Foods of Lincoln, Massachusetts.
