Submitting a Letter of Interest

Content for Expressions of Interest

Between April 1 and May 1, 2025, the Climate Project is seeking Expressions of Interest and descriptions of qualifications, as described below.

Expressions of Interest should be submitted to the MIT Funding Portal and include the following elements:

  • Relevant qualifications: 2-page (max) CV upload focusing on qualifications directly relevant to the theme, can be in the form of publications, working papers, visuals, tools, etc.
  • Expression of Interest narrative upload:
    • Narrative of research interest: 1 page (max) describing specific aspects of theme that is of interest and why (theme descriptions linked here).
    • Description of collaboration interests: 1 page (max) providing:
    • Brief description of your interest in engaging with specific existing or new MIT collaborators.
    • Brief description of your interest in engaging with existing or new specific external collaborators.
    • Suggestion of how resources would be used to support your interest (300 words).

Workshops to identify subthemes of greatest capability, need, and impact (attending a workshop is not mandatory to submit an expression of interest, notes and recordings from the sessions will be provided).

Mission Directors review based on interest and qualification match

Individuals and teams notified of next steps

Climate Missions

Each Climate Mission will address a broad domain where solutions are required for effective climate response and where a critical mass of excellent research capabilities exists at MIT.

Climate HQ

Climate HQ is an administrative, operational, and coordinating arm for the Climate Project, and provides shared services to the Climate Missions to help them achieve practical impact at scale.
